EVEREST REGION (SOLO-KHUMBU)


CLOTHING
In an expedition of this nature, you are advised that the below mentioned clothing items list be considered as essentials.  

 

List marked in Black is for all Expeditions

List marked in Blue is only for Namche Bazaar Trek
List marked in Red is not for Namche Bazaar Trek


Head:

  • Sun hat or sports cap (1)
  • Bandana or Head Scarf (1)
  • Warm fleece / woollen hat that covers your ears (1)
  • Sunglasses with UV protection (1)
  • Insulated balaclava (Monkey cap) (1)
  • Mountaineering Glares / Glacier Sunglasses with 99-100% UV absorption and having large lenses that fit close to the face, has a side shield and a wraparound strap (1)
  • Head Lamp with extra batteries and bulb (1)   

Lower Body:

  • Under Garments (One for every two days)
  • Hiking shorts (1)
  • Trekking / fleece pants (2)
  • Jeans / Lightweight cotton long pants (2)
  • Light and expedition weight thermal innerwear bottoms (1)
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants (2)  

Feet: 

  • Thin, lightweight inner socks (One for every two days)
  • Thick, warm wool hiking socks (One for every two days)
  • Camp shoes or sandals (1)
  • Hiking boots with spare laces (1)
  • Mountaineering boots (sturdy and well worn in, waterproof, large enough to wear multiple pairs of socks underneath, able to take on crampons) with spare laces (1)
  • Feet Gaiters (1)  

Upper Body:  

  • Full-sleeve T-shirts, preferably Polypropylene material (One for every three days)  
  • Thermal Innerwear (1)  
  • Polar fleece Pullover or Sweater (1)
  • Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (1)
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket (1)
  • Down jacket with hood (1)  

Hands:  

  • Lightweight poly-liner / woollen gloves (1)  
  • Heavyweight / insulated gloves or mountaineering mittens with warm polar fleece mitt liner (1)

Neck:

  • Woollen Muffler (1)
  • Neck Gaiter (1)

Note:
Specialized clothing is available on rent or buy basis in Thamel (Kathmandu) or in Lukla / Namche Bazaar. We would recommend that you buy original clothing from Kathmandu. Few of the best brands are North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Lowe Alpine, Marmot, Mammut, Millets, Berghaus and Kathmandu. 

 

MOUNTAINEERING & TREKKING EQUIPMENT
In an expedition of this nature, you are advised that the below mentioned trekking and mountaineering equipments list be considered as essentials.

Trekking Equipment * 

  • Trekking sticks / walking poles
  • Torch or Headlamp with spare bulbs and batteries
  • Steel water bottles (1 to 1.5 liters)
  • Day Rucksack / Duffel bag – 25 Liters (To be carried by the Guest)
  • Rucksack rain cover (for all the Rucksacks)
  • Large plastic bags - for keeping items segregated / dry inside rucksack
  • Small plastic bags – to accumulate garbage, to be disposed off later at an appropriate place
  • Medium-sized rucksack – 45 to 65 liters
  • Sleeping bag rated to zero degrees Fahrenheit or - 18 Degrees Celsius
  • Camping / Expedition Kari-Mat (Non-inflatable)
  • Large rucksack – 75 to 80 liters

  • Ankle gaiters (use in snowy conditions in the foothills & if compatible with own boots)
